Scholarship Purpose
The purpose of the Dream 13 Leadership Excellence Scholarship is to:
Encourage academic excellence and lifelong learning. Recognize outstanding leadership within the Dream 13 Program. Promote community service and servant leadership. Support students pursuing higher education, technical training, military service, apprenticeships, or other career pathways. Inspire younger Dream 13 members to strive for excellence in every area of life.
Reinforce the values of Guide Right and the Dream Keepers Foundation.
Applicants must:
Be an active participant in the Dream 13 Kappa League Program. Be a graduating high school senior in good standing.
Plan to enroll in a college, university, trade school, apprenticeship, military service, or accredited workforce training program.
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (or higher as determined annually by the Scholarship Committee). Demonstrate active participation in Dream 13 meetings, mentoring activities, and community service projects. Exhibit leadership within school, church, athletics, community organizations, or Dream 13. Must have a Kappa Fraternity sponsor. Applicants must submit all required scholarship materials by the published deadline.
Applicants must submit:
Completed scholarship application.
- Official high school transcript.
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, employer, coach, or mentor.
- One letter of recommendation from a community, civic, or faith-based leader.
- Resume highlighting leadership, extracurricular activities, employment, volunteer service, and awards.
- Proof of acceptance or enrollment in a post-secondary program.
- Scholarship Essay
Essay Topic:
"Leading with Purpose: What Does It Mean to Live the Principles of Dream 13?"
In 750–1,000 words, explain how your experiences in school, family, church, work, athletics, or your community have helped shape you into the leader you are today.
Discuss:
- What leadership means to you.
- How Dream 13 has influenced your personal growth.
- Which of the Seven Phases of Kappa League has impacted you the most and why.
- How you plan to continue serving your community after graduation.
- How receiving this scholarship will help you fulfill your educational and career goals.
